Rhubarb

This weekend we attended the wedding of a friend from college. It was a wonderful wedding and a perfect day getting to see a group of friends that are some of my favorite people in the world. Here are two of these people:

Kara and Jamie McClintock

Kara, Jamie, Dan and I are the last 4 standing from our original football block that started in 2001.

Jamie and Kara brought Dan a special treat at the wedding, rhubarb from their garden.

I called Grandma Jean this afternoon and got her recipe for rhubarb pie. While I was working on the pie, Trent decided that he would also make a pie for his dad.

This cabinet was his oven.

Next, he decided he needed to write down his recipe. It went like this, "some yummy chicken nuggets, some yummy macaroni and cheese, some yummy fruit loops, stickers, strawberries, bananas, grapes, and fruit loops" Poor guy worked up a sweat with all the cooking.

My finished product. I was pretty proud.

Hmm, looks pretty but does not smell like it would be good to me.

To Dan's dismay, Trent tried a piece. He was not impressed and Dan was happy that he did not have to share.

Pure happiness. Thank you Jamie and Kara!

In case you were wondering, the pie is half gone at the time of this blog post. I think that I have enough rhubarb left for another pie or I might try a different dish with the rest.

  1. Looks good, until you cut it. Not a rhubarb fan, but the meringue looks tasty.

  2. If I would have know that all it would take for us to get on your blog was some rhubarb, we would have done it earlier! Thanks for the sweet comments. Jamie wishes we were closer so he could have a piece of pie too.
