STL is hopping this weekend with the upcoming All-Star game festivities. We helped kick the week off this morning by running in the All-Star 5k and 1 mile Fun Run. Tim, Jody, Dan and my dad ran in the 5k while my mom, Trent and I ran/walked the Fun Run. With Dan and I as parents it would be nearly impossible to think that Trent would be blessed with any speed but he really got into the race and thought it was fun.
Lou Brock, Rollie Fingers and Shawn Johnson were the race marshalls. This is Lou Brock sounding the starting horn for the Fun Run. The start of the Fun Run was not nearly as chaotic as it was when the 8,000 5K racers started.
Trent really liked looking at all of the mascots that were around the area but just could not bring himself to give Stomper the Oakland A's elephant a high 5. Maybe he thought this would be disrespectful to Fredbird.
Trent started out strong and ran the first few blocks of the race.
After that he would run a little, walk a little and have Mom carry him a little bit. He kept getting distracted by police cars and wanted to go check them out in the intersections.
