Trent's preschool had a family movie night at the beginning of December. They had millk and cookies, Santa, and the kids sang some Christmas Carols. Then they had two short Mickey Mouse Christmas movies. It was a really nice program.
This was our first unsuccessful visit to Santa. Trent isn't really afraid of Santa, he just has no interest in talking to the "not real" Santas. I can't say that I blame him, some of these Santas just don't cut it. When asked, How will Santa know what you want for Christmas, Trent has maintained "I will just get what I get"
Everybody wore pajamas to the party. Of course, Trent went with his signature non-matching pajamas
Trent is in his "don't take my picture" phase
Our second visit to Santa, was when our friends Amy and Erin invited us to Breakfast with Santa in Waterloo. Trent banned any cameras to be brought out for this event. Trent didn't think that this was the real Santa but did believe that he had some affiliation with the real Santa. He would not sit on his lap but did talk to him about some important questions that had been bothering him. Mainly, if elves are also magic and if they have magic eyes. He did write a letter and left it in the mailbox there so that the REAL Santa would get it.
Our third run in with Santa was on accident, when we had to run an errand to Rural King. As we walked in and saw him, Trent observed that he didn't even kind of look like Santa. (I had to agree). As Santa tried to wave at Trent, he shouted across the store, YOU ARE NOT THE REAL SANTA, as I tried to clamp my hand over his mouth as to not upset the few children standing in line.
Later that day, we were running a few errands on the square and saw that the village at the courthouse had Santa in it and there was no line or anybody around. To our surprise, Trent decided he wanted to go visit and that he wanted a picture. Trent began by informing this Santa, that he was not the real Santa. I think that Santa was quite a bit offended because he started trying to justify with some long crazy story and explanation. Trent wasn't buying it but did decided that he liked him enough to sit on his lap and let us take a picture.
Finally, the money shot!
Trent finished off this "semi-successful" Santa visit by answering the question, "What do you want for Christmas" by saying, "I'll just take a candy cane, I already put a letter in the mailbox for the real Santa"
