After an overnight stay in Paducah, we finally made it to our vacation destination on Sunday afternoon.....Chattanooga. We forgot that we lost an hour to Eastern time so we went straight to our first stop. We had a reservation for a train ride on the Tennessee Valley Railway.
This is the actual train that we were able to ride. It was a coal powered steam locomotive. We had a 50 minute ride on the Missionary Ridge line. Trent was so happy!
This picture doesn't show it very well, but at the half way point, we got off the train and got to see the train turn on a turntable.
They had a train yard in front of the station and you could climb on them all that you wanted. We spent a few hours after our ride playing on the trains.
Trent had so much fun that it was hard to get a picture of him because he rarely stayed in one place for more than a second.
Day 1 of vacation was a success! We will have to try to get a picture of our hotel room, it is awesome. Dan used priceline.com to book us a room for 1/3 of the price, then when we got here we were able to upgrade to a 2-room king suite @ no add'l charge. It has worked great because Trent had a pull out couch to sleep on as soon as he calmed down from all the vacation excitement and finally went to sleep.
